Judith F. Chapman

Judy was born in Montana in 1946, the middle child in a family of seven, and has lived most of her life in Missoula, MT. She went to school, was married, raised two children, and divorced. Since 1973 she worked at a large local institution. In 1990 she married Mark Chapman.

She made her first fruit wine thirty-six years ago with guidance from her father. Her experiments with different fruits, techniques, and results, started a hobby that Judy grew to love. The idea of turning that enjoyment into a vocation grew in her mind, and the concept of a winery gradually evolved.

Over the next several years, Judy pursued an education in subjects pertinent to wine making, both scientific and business related. The majority of classes were taken at the University of Montana, but U C Davis, California, provided classes specific to the wine industry.

Judy enjoys biking, sewing, caving, and SCA (medieval recreation) activities when she has some spare time. She refuses to cover up her gray hair because she earned every one.
